The Children of Lir book

But the children of Lir continued to delight the Milesian clans with the very sweet fairy music of their songs, so that no delight was ever heard in Erin to compare with their music until the time came appointed for the leaving the Lake of the Red Eye.

But when she saw how passionate was her husband's devotion to them, how he would have them to sleep near him and would rise at their slightest whimper to comfort and to caress them, and how at dawn she would wake to find he had left her side to see that all was well with them, the poisonous weed of jealousy began to grow up in the garden of her heart.

Never did a fiercer storm rage on the sea between Alba and Erin than the storm that raged that night. Conor Busuttil is a children's picture book illustrator and passionate doodler.

At first Aoife loved the children, but soon she started to grow jealous of them. And at first Oifa felt affection and honour for the children of Lir and her sister, and indeed every one who saw the four children could not help giving them the love of his soul.

A Book of Myths/The Children of Lîr

This week, Laura caught up with The Echo to let us know about what made her tackle the age-old Children of Lir tale, how working with children inspired her to bring it to life and what we can expect from her next.
